Mimicry

I'd want a taste, as you taste what's mine

As your tongue traces down the route of my spine

I'd like you to memorize my every curve,

And unlock the quiet hunger we hold in reserve

And whispered commands that keep me awake

Bruised lips haunting with a lingering ache

I'd want you to see me unpretty, unswayed

Stripped of my armour, unbound, unafraid

Cascading hair like a black waterfall

Surrender to a longing that devours us all.

I'd want to ruin ur taste for other women

Own your being like a possessive demon

I want u to touch my softness and storms

You don’t get to choose which... that’s against the norms.

I'd want every inch, and I'd want some more...

To pour all your secrets from the depths of your core.

But there's a void that stays cold and wide,

With nowhere for my reaching hands to hide.

Trying to mimic the skin I lack,

A way to steal your presence back.

Until you’re there to claim what’s truly due,

I touch myself on behalf of you.

Masturbate your Heart

Kindness is a kind of a thing

A curious thing it is..

A mind of its own, reclined on its throne

In the heart of her or his.

It'll come to u, for the poor n a puppy

For the guppy out of the fishbowl..

For the sick, for Gaza, for the shootings in the plaza

For Umar Khalid and his lack of parole.

But when it comes to being kind to the self

The back shelf is where it we keep,

We bully ourselves, from nines to twelves

"I'm an ugly fu** and beep beep beep"

I wish the kindness we show everyone

Was also self-inflicting

The one who lives in the mirror

Could also use some TLC-ing.

Gratitude

 I’m thankful for my bed,

To take untimely naps.

I’m thankful I get fed,

Without having to hunt or set traps.

I’m thankful for my phone,

To scroll through silly memes.

I’m thankful for a home,

To plot my diabolical schemes!

I’m thankful I am silly...

It's what fuels my toddler-hearted soul.

I’m thankful I always say thank you

Sometimes though, with an eye roll!

Imprints

We keep memories in a photograph

That keeps moments from running away,

A pause button for life’s stories

Time's forever frozen hideaway.

Of imagined adventures and voyages

In the backyards of the rainbow arc

Where dusty trails settle down

And imprints of remembrances embark.

Conspiracy of Silence

What started with talks of genocide
And Rizpah's lost child
Went on to contouring the outside lines of you
And conversations with you in her mind.

Missing you is the easy part.
Thinking you up all day is restlessness personified.
Because she is strong, not invincible.
She wants her errs to be rectified.

Talk to her & tell her what's shifted
What's with all this silence?
As if being pulled in by a river current
Sucked into a seedy turbulence

You're a sunset of the deepest reds, vibrant yellows
And the most comforting blues
You've touched her with ur blackest eyes and murky pastel hues.
 ‎

So now...
She's written your name so deep in her book of sands,
When waters flow through the pages, dark seas are born!!
Curb the storm that you've stirred in the waves and tell her once more..
'Wake up, sunshine... I'm here..and it's a new morn!'
